AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NUMBER 727, 759, AND 805, FIXING
AND IMPOSING THE AGGREGATE AMOUNT OF FEES, CHARGES AND SPECIAL
TAXES TO BE PAID THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, BY THE
GENERAL TELEPHONE COMPANY OF THE SOUTHWEST AND THE METHOD OF
PAYMENT THEREOF; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. It is hereby declared that Ordinances Number
728, 760, and B06 should be amended as set forth below.
SECTION 2. Section 6 of said Ordinance Number 727 and
Section 2 of said Ordinances Number 759 and Number 805 are hereby
amended to read as follows:
"The sale, furnishing, transmission and distribution
of the telephone service by General Telephone Company
within the City is hereby declared to be a special
privilege and for such General Telephone Company shall
pay to the City an assessment amounting to:
For the year 1987, the General Telephone Company of the
Southwest shall pay in monthly installments beginning
January 1987, the sum of One Hundred Fifty Thou-
sand Dollars ($150,000.00).
Payments shall continue in succeeding years unless sooner
modified."
In all other respects, said Ordinances shall remain unchanged.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in
conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 4. It is hereby found by the Jacksonville City
Council that there is an urgent need for additional revenues for
the City. Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist, and this
Ordinance being necessary for the preservation and advancement of
the public peace, health and safety shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage.
