AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING BY THE CII f OF
JACKSONVILL~ ARKANSASL FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING A NEW
PUMPER TRU~K FOR TH~ FIRE DEPARTMENT; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES. .

WHEREAS, the pumper trucks used by the Fire Department are vital to the
health and safety of citizens of the City of Jacksonvi Ie. In order to provide
improved and more efficient service to our citizens, a new and upgraded 2005
pumper truck is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, Pro Fire Equi )ment of Olive Branch, Mississi )p~ which sells Pierce
Pumper Trucks, is t le only authorized source for said brana of trucks. Past
experience has shown that the Pierce Trucks serve the Department well, the
Department is ab e to obtain such a truck at a competitive rate, and most
maintenance needs can be met by a member of the Fire Department. As such, it
is recommended that the City contract with Pro Fire Equipment of Olive Branchl
Mississippi, for said pumper truck, and Pro Fire has agreed to provide such needed
pumper truck with appropriate guarantees and warranties at a fair and reasonable
rate.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CII f COUNCIL OF THE
CII f OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Competitive bidding for the Qurpose of obtaining a new
2005 Pierce Custom Contender Pum Jer TrucK for the Fire Department would be
cost y, non-productive{ and time consuming, ma <ing said competitive bidding
unfeasible and impractical.
SECTION I \1\10: Pursuant to ACA ~14-58-383, comgetitive bidding is
hereby waived for the purpose of obtaining a new 2005 Pierce Custom Contender
Pum Jer Truck for the Fire Department from Pro Fire Equipment. Authorization is
here)y given to the Mayor and/or his designated representative to execute
necessary documents with Pro Fire Equipment of 0 ive Brancl, Mississippi, for tle
purchase of a 2005 Pierce Custom Contender Pumper Truck for an amount not to
exceed Two Hundred Five Thousand Dol ars ($205,000.00). Tlis amount is to be
paid from budgeted 2005 Fire Department Equipment funds.
SECTION THREE: All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or previous actions
taken by said Council in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such
confl ict.
