OOOO,tB ORDINANCE NO. 1235 (# 19 - 04) AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING BY THE Cllf OF ~~~~OD~'::~~MMAURN~~~gNSFgCM~~fE~U::g~tt" ~:'A~:~~WW.~ 911 COMMUNICATIONS CENTER; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES. --------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------- WHEREAS the equipment used by the 911 Communications Center is vital to the health and safety of citizens of the City of Jacksonville. In order to provide improved and more e'Ticient service to our citizens, upgraded computers and software are necessary; and, WHEREAS, the vendor who has the current maintenance contract for the 911 Communications Center is an authorized source for the recommended upgrades and software needed at a fair and reasonable rate. As such, it is recommended that we contract with Grace Communications of Little Rock, Arkansas, for said services, and they have agreed to provide sue 1 needed equipment and services with appropriate guarantees and warranties at a fair and reasonable rate. BE II ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CII f COUNCIL OF THE CII f OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION ONE: Competitive bidding for the purpose of obtaining an upgrade for the 911 Communications Center's radio computers and softWare, including Insta lation, set-up, configuration, and training would be costly, non- JrOductlve( and time consuming, ma <ing said competitive Jidding unfeasi J e and Impractica . \ SECTION TWO: Pursuant to ACA ~14-58-383, competitive bidding is hereby waived for the purpose of obtaining certain upgrades for communications computers and software for the 911 Communications Center from Grace Communications. Authorization is lereby given to the Mayor and/or his designated representative to execute necessary documents with Grace Communications of Little Rock, Arkansas, for a contractual agreement to provide the approl2riate upgraded equipment, software, and services, which includes installation, configuring, set-up, and training for the employees of the 911 Communications Center for an amount not to exceed Sixteen Thousand Four Hundred Ninety-seven Dollars ($16,497.00). Tlese amounts are to be paid from budgeted Depar:ment Funds. SECTION THREE: All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or previous actions taken by said Council in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. SECTION FOUR: To provide more effectively for the comfort and safety of our citizens, an emergency is lereby dec ared to exist.
