0364 RESOLUTION NO. 3 6 4 (#5-86)
A RESOLUTION APPROVING OF THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CENTRAL ARKANSAS
TRANSIT AUTHORITY; AFFIRMING THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE'S PARTICI-
PATION AND MEMBERSHIP IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS TRANSIT AUTHORITY;
AFFIRMING THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL BY A BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, there is a need to establish a public transit system
within the boundaries of Pulaski County that will efficiently serve
the citizens of the governmental entities of Pulaski County, Arkan-
sas, and
WHEREAS, there is a need to create apublic authority responsi-
ble for the planning, maintenance and operation of a mass transit
system within Pulaski County, Arkansas, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkan-
sas sees the advantage to the citizens of this community to have
a mass transit system available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JACK-
SONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
1. We hereby affirm the City of Jacksonville's desire to
establish CATA and affirm Jacksonville's participation and member-
ship in CATA.
2. We further affirm that CATA shall,be managed and con-
trolled by an eleven member Board of Directors.
3. We hereby authorize the Mayor,,of the City of Jacksonville
to enter into the agreement for the creation of CATA, said agree-
ment attached hereto and made a part hereof as if set forth herein
word for word.
