0345 RESOLUTION NO. 3 4 5 ( #1Q -85) A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO MIDDLE SOUTH UTILITIES, INC., MIDDLE SOUTH SERVICES, INC., AND OTHER SUBSIDIARIES TO RE- LOCATE THEIR CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS TO LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS WHEREAS, the City of Little Rock and Central Arkansas have a quality of life abundant with excellent geographic location, climate, educational and cultural environmental, economic attitude, and industrious, positive and energetic citizens; and WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville recognizes the many positive contributions to Central Arkansas of both management and employees of one of its most responsible corporate citizens, that being Arkansas Power and Light Company; and WHEREAS, all citizens of the cities of Little Rock and Jacksonville seek to promote the establishment and continued maintenance of a body of resident corporate citizens such as Middle South Utilities, Inc., and its subsidiaries; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, considers the prospect of a move of a corporation headquarters such as Middle South Utilities, Inc., and its subsidiaries to be an extremely positive indication of the mutual admiration and respect between the cities of Little Rock and Jacksonville, and its private and corporate citizens, and further visibly demonstrates a firm commitment to excellence in all phases of future business development in Central Arkansas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Jacksonville vote together and unanimously to urge and encourage in the strongest possible terms the relocation of Middle South Utilities, Inc., and its subsidiaries to a suitable location in the City of Little Rock. 1 '7 RESOLUTION NO. 3 4 5 PAGE TWO SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Jacksonville is ready and willing to work with Middle South Utilities, Inc., and its subsidiaries, the Greater Little Rock Chamber of Commerce and other interested parties to promote the kind of transition from its present location to the City of Little Rock so as to minimize personal disruption and inconvenience to employees and families of Middle South Utilities, Inc., and its subsidiaries.
