RESOLUTION NO. 3 1 3 (#6-83)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE
TO SUPPORT THE ARKANSAS HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT IN THE REMOVAL OF THE
COFFELT ROAD CROSSING FROM HIGHWAY 67/167 OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE
CONSTRUCTION OF A GRADE SEPARATION AT THIS INTERSECTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has expended many hours
of Police and Fire Department personnel investigating and
rescuing and transporting injured and dying accident victims as
a result of accidents at Coffelt Road Crossing; and
WHEREAS, citizens of Jacksonville have suffered property
losses and dismemberment as a result of Coffelt Road Crossing;
and
WHEREAS, the City has lost productive citizens due to
death and dismemberment as a result of accidents at this
dangerous crossing.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1. The Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to execute all appropriate agreements necessary to expedite the
removal of Coffelt Road Crossing or the alternative construction
of a Grade Separation.
Section 2. The City of Jacksonville pledges its full
support and hereby authorizes the Arkansas State Highway and
Transportation Department to initiate action to remove the
Coffelt Road Crossing or the alternative to construct a Grade
Separation.
