0308 PAGE 220 RESOLUTION NO. 3 0 8 (1 -83) RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE ARKANSAS GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO DRAFT AND PASS LEGISLATION DEALING WITH CITIES VOTING ON LIQUOR OPTIONS BY PRECINCTS. WHEREAS, The Wet /Dry Question is a very important decision that affects the whole community and therefore needs to be decided by the whole community and not just a certain faction. WHEREAS, The problems that a dry community will experience with just a part going wet can nor will be limited to that particular area, these potential problems will bleed over the boundaries of a precinct into portions of that city that will have no voice in to such matter. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS: That we urge the General Assembly of the State of Arkansas to enact legislation prohibiting the voting by precinct on the issue of local liquor options for cities having a pupulation of 50,000 residents or less and that Arkansas Statutes Annotated Section 48 -801 be amended to this effect.
