0290 /11/4 RESOLUTION NO. 2 9 0- 8 1 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE SUNNY - SIDE HILLS SHOPPING CENTER PROPERTY FOR USE AS AN ELDERLY CENTER AND PARK SITE AND FOR ALL OTHER PROPER PURPOSES WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Elderly Activities Program (JEAP) has the option to purchase the Sunnyside Hills Shopping Center property for use as an elderly program and park site at a cost of $62,500 plus certain tax and insurance expenses; WHEREAS, JEAP worked with the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, (City) in campaigning for voter approval of a $250,000 bond issue to develop such an elderly program site and park; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: Section 1. For and in consideration of the assignment by JEAP to the City of its option to purchase, the City hereby agrees that said property shall be purchased and that JEAP shall have the right to lease the subject premises being purchased with the bond proceeds for a 50- year term at an annual rental of $1.00 per year and that JEAP shall further have the right to proceed with its architect in the development of said center and park site according to representations made to the voting public prior to the bond election. Section 2. This resolution being necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety, welfare and morale of the citizens of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this resolution shall have full force and effect immediately after its passage.
