A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS,
REQUESTING A CHANGE IN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE LITTLE ROCK AND VICKSBURG
DISTRICTS OF THE U. S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS
WHEREAS, there exists within the Little Rock -North Little Rock Standard
Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) a politically, socially and economically
integrated area of many common interests; and
WHEREAS, the coordinated efforts of the many interests within the Little
Rock -North Little Rock SPISA have proven beneficial in the accomplishment of
long range planning as demonstrated in the Little Rock Metropolitan Area
Urban Study; and
WHEREAS, the efforts of the Little Rock District of the U. S. Army Corps
of Engineers as lead District in the consideration of water resource problems
and programs within the Little Rock -North Little Rock SMSA has greatly
enhanced the ability of the individual governments and planning agencies in
accomplishing their goals; and
WHEREAS, there is a common desire to continue this more effective and
efficient relationship which has not existed in the past with the Vicksburg
District, Corps of Engineers because of its remoteness.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE:
Section 1. That the boundaries of the Little Rock District, Corps of
Engineers are hereby requested to be changed to include that portion of the
Bayou Meto Watershed west of the Pulaski and Lonoke County line and that
portion of the Saline River basin upstream of the Saline and Grant County
line, so that Pulaski and Saline Counties (the Little Rock -North Little Rock
SMSA) will be within the Little Rock District, Corps of Engineers.
Section 2. That this resolution shall be in effect from and after its
adoption.
