0696 RESOLUTION NO, 696 (#05 - 2013)
A RESOLUTION CONGRATULATING AND SUPPORTING COACH
KA TRINA MIMMS AND THE 2013 STATE CHAMPION (5A) GIRLS'
BASKETBALL TEAM OF JACKSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL; AND, FOR
OTHER PURPOSES,
WHEREAS, Coach Katrina Mimms, together with Assistant Coach Victor Joyner and
JHS Athletic Director Jerry Wilson, utilized the Girls' Basketball Program to implement
genuine character and integrity and forever impact the lives of young Jacksonville
residents by recently leading them to the State Championship in the 2013 Arkansas Girls'
Basketball Championship Tournament (5A).
NOW, THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE,ARKANSAS, THAT;
SECTION ONE: Coach Mimms is to be applauded for her hard work,
dedication, and efforts to implement athleticism, character, and skills to this
Championship Team. As a result, Coaches Mimms and Joyner, together with A. D.
Wilson, led these young women to the 2013 Arkansas Girls' Basketball Championship
(5A). Members of the 2013 JHS Championship Girls'Basketball Team should be proud of
their accomplishments this Season and the impact their efforts will have on both their
short term and long term life goals. Championship team members are: Keaundra Alcorn;
Rashonda Bacon; Breona Brooks; Markela Bryles; Melanie Ellis; Ashli Evans; Jerika
Hardaway; Bianca Henry; Shakyla Hill; 5A Tournament MVP Jessica Jackson; Antrice
McCoy; Alunte Petties; Sacha Richardson; Tiffany Smith; and Kaylin Washington.
SECTION TWO: The Jacksonville City Council encourages other area
educators to model Coach Mimms' winning basketball program and apply the same
dedication, efforts, and commitment to their educational pursuits in the training and
development of all champion students in the City of Jacksonville. Doing so can and will
provide champion students winning character and integrity, leading them throughout and
beyond their educational years into their adult lives.
SECTION THREE: This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date
of passage.
