0215 76 ., RESOLUTION NO. 215.78 WHEREAS, the Social Security Commissioner and the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare are proposing amendments to the Federal Social Security Regulations that will require the states and all their political subdivisions (Including municipalities) to make monthly transmittals of Social Security contributions and matching funds (now quarterly) and, WHEREAS, this will more than triple the staff time and paper work of municipal payroll employees on social security matter, and WHEREAS, the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Public Employees Retirement System has unanimously adopted a resolution in opposition to these amendments in the Social Security regulations and in full support of (S 1967 and HR 1300) two bills in Congress requiring that no change be made in the present Social Security reporting or transmittal of contributions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, that we urge the Arkansas Congressional Delegation: Senator Dale Bumpers; Senator Kaneaster Hodges; Representatives Bill Alexander, Jim Guy Tucker, John Paul Hammerschmidt and Ray Thornton to convey their opposition to this change in Social Security regulations to the Social Security Commissioner and the Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare and urge our Senators and. Representative to support S 1967 and HR 1300. That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the cities and towns in Arkansas requesting them to contact their Senators and Representative and urge them to oppose this change in the Social Security regulations.
