0156 RESOLUTION NO. j t. " 7 A RESOLUTION PERTAINING TO THE CONSTRUCTION AND NAMING OF A NEW HIGH SCHOOL AND JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL WITHIN THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS. WHEREAS, the current high school facility serving the residents of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas and surrounding areas was constructed within the past ten years to accommodate 1200 students; WHEREAS, the 1974 student enrollment in said facility was approximately 1800 students and said enrollment resulted in greatly overcrowding the exist- , ing facilities; WHEREAS, residents of the City of Jacksonville and officials at Little Rock Air Force Base recognized the housing problem of the Pulaski County Special School District and worked with and cooperated with said school district in securing a site for a new high school and a new junior high school within the city limits of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas at a nominal cost; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville applauds the efforts of the Pulaski County Special School District to provide housing for the junior and senior high school students of this area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, that: SECTION ONE. The Pulaski County Special School District is hereby commended for its expression of concern for the welfare of students in the.jacksonville area and for its efforts in implementing the construction of a new junior and senior high school within the city limits of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, to serve said students. SECTION TWO. That because of the location and attendance of said proposed facilities by a large number of students from the Jacksonville area and because of the assistance rendered to said school district in the procurement of said site, that said facilities be named either Jacksonville West Side High School (or Jacksonville West High School) and Jacksonville Page Two West Side Junior High School (or Jacksonville West Junior High School). SECTION 3. That this resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval.
