APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES: Regular Scheduled Meeting of June 13, 2016 1 3. VARIANCE REQUEST(S): Maximum Square Footage Variance Accessory Building 5313 Ridge Road Petitioner: David & Rhonda Owen 2-3 ADJOURNMENT MINUTES: BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT REGULAR MEETING DATE AND TIME: August 8, 2016 6:30 p.m. – 6:35 p.m. ATTENDANCE: Commissioners: Scott Scholl, Art Brannen, Virgil Healey, and Chairman Rick White were present. City Attorney Bamburg and City Engineer Whisker were also present. ______________________________________________________________________ City Clerk Susan Davitt recorded those listed above in attendance and Chairman Rick White declared a quorum. APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES: Commissioner Healey moved, seconded by Commissioner Brannen to approve the regularly scheduled meeting minutes of June 13, 2016. MOTION CARRIED. VARIANCE(S): Accessory Building Maximum Square Footage Variance Chairman White opened the public hearing at approximately 6:30 p.m. Petitioner David Owen requested to construct a 30’ X 40’ shop in his back yard. He answered Chairman White that it would be a metal building, adding that the colors would match the residence. He then related that the only part of the building that would be visible from the street would be the roof and two feet of the walls, noting that he has an 8’ fence and the walls will be 10’ in height. City Engineer Whisker noted that Oak Ridge Ranch Subdivision has larger lots so it is easier to fit a 1,200 square foot building in the rear yard. He confirmed with Mr. Owen that his lot is slightly over 1 acre. Mr. Owen then noted that there have been several homes that were constructed with larger accessory buildings. He noted that his neighbor directly across the street from his home has a shop that is 32’ X 30’. City Engineer Whisker acknowledged that several residents in the Oak Ridge Subdivision have obtained variances from the Board of Adjustment for large accessory buildings. Commissioner Healey moved, seconded by Commissioner Brannen to approve the maximum square footage variance at 5313 Ridge Road as requested. MOTION CARRIED. Chairman White closed the public hearing at approximately 6:36 p.m. ADJOURNMENT: Without objection, Chairman White adjourned the meeting at approximately 6:35 p.m. MOTION CARRIED.
