APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES: Regular Scheduled Meeting of January 13, 2014 1-2 3. VARIANCE REQUEST(S): LED Sign Variance 209 South Redmond Road Petitioner: Preston Robinson 3 ADJOURNMENT MINUTES: BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT REGULAR MEETING DATE AND TIME: February 18, 2014 6:30 p.m. – 6:34 p.m. ATTENDANCE: Commissioners: Alderman Howard, Rick White, Vergil Healey, Art Brannen and Chairman Moore were present. City Attorney Bamburg and City Engineer Whisker were present. ______________________________________________________________________ City Clerk Susan Davitt recorded those listed above in attendance and Chairman Moore declared a quorum. APPROVAL AND/OR CORRECTION OF MINUTES: Alderman Howard moved, seconded by Commissioner Brannen to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled Board of Adjustment meeting of January 13, 2014 as presented. MOTION CARRIED. VARIANCE(S): LED Sign Variance/209 South Redmond Road Chairman Moore opened the public hearing at approximately 6:31 p.m. Mr. Preston Robinson stated that he would like to replace an existing structural sign at 209 South Redmond Road with a new LED sign of the same size. He added that he would like to replace either one face or both sides with an LED message board sign. City Engineer Whisker stated that the request meets most of the signage Codes, noting that the only concern for the Board would be if Mr. Robinson is planning to do off-premise advertising. Mr. Robinson explained that he has other commercial property that he would like to be able to advertise using this sign. He noted that he did off-premise advertising with a previous LED sign at the QuickSilver Plaza that was approved by the Board of Adjustment. He related that he may want to advertise his Redmond Road Storage business on this signage. City Engineer Whisker stated that the signage would be no wider than the existing poles of 8’ and no taller than the existing signage at 6’. Chairman Moore closed the public hearing at approximately 6:33 p.m. Alderman Howard moved, seconded by Commissioner Brannen to approve the LED signage as requested for 209 South Redmond Road. MOTION CARRIED. ADJOURNMENT: Without objection, Chairman Moore adjourned the meeting at approximately 6:34 p.m. MOTION CARRIED.
