REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
SEPTEMBER 8, 2014

OPENING REMARKS:
The Planning Commission of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas met in regular session on September 8, 2014. Chairman Ott opened the meeting at approximately 7:00 p.m. expressing appreciation
to those in attendance.
ROLL CALL: Commissioners Jim Peacock, Jr., Scott Scholl, Jim Moore, Avis Twitty, Joe Cummings, Jr., Rick White, Eric McCleary, and Alderman Howard answered ROLL CALL. Chairman Ott also
answered roll call and declared a quorum. PRESENT (9), ABSENT (0).
Others present for the meeting were City Engineer Jay Whisker, interested citizens, petitioners, and press.
CORRECTION AND/OR APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Alderman Howard moved, seconded by Commissioner Moore to approve the minutes of the July 14, 2014 regularly scheduled meeting as presented. MOTION
CARRIED.
PUBLIC HEARING(S): REZONING of 109 Dennis Lane from C-2 to R-0
Petitioner Alejandro Aguilar Arias, through an interpreter identified as Alma Perry, requested the rezoning of property located at 109 Dennis Lane. He explained that he would like to
remodel the building that was formerly used as a commercial building, to be a single-family residence with a zoning of R-0. He stated that he would tear down the existing residential
house, which has been vacant for some time and is dilapidated. He explained that of the two buildings, the building that was used as commercial shop is in better shape. He noted that
the commercial building has air conditioning and cement floors.
City Engineer Whisker informed the Commission that the property was originally zoned residential but was rezoned to accommodate an electronic service repair business. He explained that
Mr. Aguilar Arias is requesting to rezone the property back to residential for his primary residence. He noted the setbacks, adding that there is no setback variance of record. It was
also noted that the property would need to be cleaned up.
Chairman Moore pointed out that the adjacent property to the rear is a mobile home park.
Commissioner Twitty moved, seconded by Commissioner Scholl to approve the rezoning of 109 Dennis Lane to R-0. MOTION CARRIED.
