0051 RESOLUTION 51 - 60
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Jacksonville,
State of Arkansas, believes that the public safety, service
and welfare can be advanced by examining, determining, re-
vising and fixing the charges: for franchises granted by said
City of Jacksonville, Arkansas to the various public service
companies,
WHEREAS, said governing body is of the opinion that the
terms and intent of the franchises the City of Jacksonville,
Arkansas has granted to the Arkansas Power & Light Company,
the Southwestern States Telephone Company and Arkansas -
Louisiana Gas Corporation are not being complied with by
said companies,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved
(1) That said Arkansas Power & Light Company furnish to
the City Recorder of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a verified state-
r meat setting forth the number of poles and meters it presently
maintains for the service of residential and commercial users
within the City limits of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and a veri-
fied statement of the gross revenue said Arkansas Power &
Light Company has derived monthly for the past sir months
ending December 31, 1959, from service rendered to said resi-
dential and commercial users.
(2) That said Southwestern States Telephone Company
furnish to the City Recorder of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a veri-
fied statement setting forth the number of its telephone sub-
scribers within the City limits of Jacksonville, Arkansas each
month for the past sir months period ending December 31, 1959,
and a verified statement of the gross revenue said Southwestern
States Telephone Company has derived monthly for the said
period from said subscribers.
(3) That said Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company furnish to
the City Recorder of Jacksonville, Arkansas, a verified state-
ment setting forth the number of gas meters it presently main-
tains for the service of residential and commercial users with..
in the City limits of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and a verifie4'

statement of the gross revenue said Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Com-
pany has derived monthly for the past six months ending Decem-
ber 31, 1959 from service rendered to said residential and com-
mercial users.
(4) That the City Recorder of Jacksonville, Arkansas advise
the Arkansas Power & Light Company; the Southwestern States Tel -
ephone Company and the Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company of the
import hereof, with the request that they respectively furnish
the said information to him within thirty days from the date
hereof.
(5) That if said information is not supplied to the City
Recorder of Jacksonville, Arkansas within thirty days from the
date hereof by Arkansas Power & Light Company; Southwetern
States Telephone Company and Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company
respectively, proper steps betaken to cancel the franchises
of the company or companies for non - compliance with the afore-
mentioned request.
Passed by the council and approved by the Mayor this del
