0028 It? • RESOLUTION 1 28 -55 A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING TIT POSITION OF "CITY ENGINEER "; APPOINTING AN "ACTING CITY ENGINEER "; SETTING FORTH THE GENERAL DUTIES OF THE "CITY ENGTNE::R "; AND FOR .OTTER. PURPOSES. P.HEREAS the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, continues to grow in population, and dIEREAS such growth is accompanied by the heightening and increase in many problems of engineering facing the City in connection with efficient and orderly accomodation or the citizens of Jao'' sonviile, Arkansas, and HRR.EAS no City sponsered position co- ordinates the rany engineering problems facing the City Council, NM, THERM/AI, RE IT EESCTVED b„ the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, '+rkansas: THAT 1. There be established the position of 'CITY ENGINEER' for the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and TEAT 2. For a period of time, to be determined by further study and modification of this resolution or by rescinding this resolution in favor of an enabling ordinance, there shall be appointed an 'ACTING CITY ENGINEER' who shall carry out the duties of the City Engineer, and THAT 3. The duties of the City Engineer shall be to study; recommend solutions for; make cost estimates of; supervise corrective measures taken, and otherwise co- ordinate the problems of engineering character facing the City, and THAT 4, The City Engineer shall be responsible to the City Council through a Sub - Committee of the Council called the Engineering Committee of the Council charged with responsibility for engineering policy recommendations, and THAT 5. Since a considerable portion of the time of the City Engineer will be devoted to engineering problems connected with the Water & Sewer Department, the compensation for services in this position and that of Acting City Engineer shall be partially provided by the Wader and Sewer Department and partially by the City Council from a fund to be established or from fees for inspections, the e':act method to be determined by the Council after consideration of recommendations of the Engineering Com- mittee of the Council. The total compensation for the Acting City Engineer shall be determined by the Council after consideration of Engineering Committee recomr'.endations, and THAT 6. Funds for facilities and for carrying out various engineering projects shall be :nade available after recommendation and approval by the City Council. APPROVED: .a March 1955.
