A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SENIOR
HOUSING FACILITY UTILIZING THE FORMER JACKSONVILLE
ELEMENTARY BUILDING AND PROPERTY; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville recognizes that development of
additional Senior Housing will enhance the quality of lives for our Senior
Citizens as well as our Community;
WHEREAS, having a facility of this nature that will restore and
revitalize a property and building with historic and sentimental value to many
in our Community will contribute to the economic development of the City,
particularly the revitalization of East Jacksonville. The potential
improvements and aesthetics in the conversion of the unused former
Jacksonville Elementary School will be beneficial to all businesses,
residences, citizens, and government services in Jacksonville; and,
WHEREAS, support of a defined plan and program by City government
is important to the success and potential redevelopment of this portion of
East Jacksonville through use of a public/private partnership.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OFJACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT;
SECTION ONE; We hereby encourage and urge all
Community members to support, recruit, and solicit the development of
Senior Housing in our City through the conversion of the Jacksonville
Elementary School property to a Senior Housing Center in a public/private
program that will bring a tremendous opportunity for Senior Citizens in the
Community.
SECTION TWO; We hereby urge creation, improvement,
and support of this revitalization plan for that property site and ask that
emphasis be placed on the historical as well as economic values provided to
not only Senior Citizens but ALL local residents and businesses to provide an
improved quality of life for all.
SECTION THREE; Any other Resolutions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in
effect from and after its date of passage.
