AN ORDINANCE MODIFYING SECTION 17.24.070 OF THE JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL
Ca/76 ORDINANCE NO. 154; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
(REGARDING SIDEWALK REQUIREMENTS IN SUBDIVISIONS WITHIN CITY OF JACKSON-
VILLE, ARKANSAS)
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Planning Commission has made recommendations
to the Jacksonville City Council for final adoption that requirements for
sidewalks in subdivisions be modified in the best interests of all con-
cerned, taking into consideration the adopted Master Street Plan as out -
lined in Comprehensive Development Plan. Said document defines, clarifies
and describes functional classifications as to existing streets and also
to future streets as illustrated on the Plan Map.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT ALL SUBDIVISIONS LOCATED WITHIN THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS SHALL HAVE THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS FOR PROVISION
OF SIDEWALKS:
Section 1. Section 17.24.070 of the Jacksonville Municipal Code,
Ordinance No. 154 is hereby amended in its entirety as follows:
"17.24.070 Sidewalks - Required where"
a. Sidewalks shall be required on both sides of the street
on arterial thoroughfares or streets serving 301 or more
lots.
b. Sidewalks shall be required on one side of the street
only on all Collector streets or streets serving 30
to 300 lots.
c. Sidewalks shall not be required on Local- Service streets
serving 29 or less lots.
Section 2. This ordinance being necessary for the immediate preserva-
tion of the public health, safety, welfare and morale of the citizens of
the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, an emergency is hereby declared to exist
and this ordinance shall have full force and effect immediately after its
passage.
