0665 RESOLUTION NO. 665 ( #11 - 2011)
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, CITY CLERK AND BOARD OF
NORTH METRO MEDICAL CENTER TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE ALL
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN EFFORTS TO SECURE A SHORT TERM LEASE FOR
THE OPERATION OFA LONG TERM ACUTE CARE FACILITY AT NORTH METRO
MEDICAL CENTER; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, desirous of participating in a short term
lease proposal for the operation on our City -owned medical facility, North Metro Medical Center,
as a short term acute care hospital so as to continue meeting the ever - changing medical needs
and requirements of local residents and citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council understands the importance of satisfying community medical
needs and providing acute health care in these economically troubled times of too little
reimbursement from medical insurance providers and governmental benefits. As such, the
Mayor, City Clerk, and North Metro Board should be authorized to execute an appropriate short
term [Fifty (50) days] acute care medical facility lease with Allegiance Specialty Hospital and /or
its designated entity and negotiate an appropriate extension of such a lease until December 31,
2012, in compliance with the terms of the existing and outstanding hospital bond issues.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: To satisfy medical care needs of local citizens and residents within
the Jacksonville and North Pulaski County area, the Mayor, City Clerk, and North Metro Hospital
Board are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate and execute with Allegiance Specialty
Hospital and /or its designated entity an appropriate Fifty (50) day Lease Agreement and,
ultimately, an extension of said Lease Agreement necessary to obtain and secure a longer term
Lease Agreement up to and until December 31, 2012, for continued operation and provision of
an acute care hospital within the North Metro facilities and premises but within compliance of all
existing outstanding hospital bond issues.
SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date of passage.
