AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE NAME OF DUPREE STREET TO SMART STREET
WHEREAS, certain confusion exists in the minds of the
citizens of Jacksonville on the different locations of
Dupree Drive and Dupree Street; and
WHEREAS, Dupree Drive has been an established main
business artery for a long period of time; and
WHEREAS, the owners of Dupree's Second East Jacksonville
Subdivision have requested that the name of Dupree Street
be changed to Smart Street; and
WHEREAS, the City Planning Commission has recommended
that the City Council take necessary action to change the
name of said street; and
WHARF :AS, said street was accepted by the City as a public
easement and for maintenance as shown on the official final
plat of Dupree's Second East Jacksonville Subdivision and
is shown on the Master Street Plan as adopted by the City
Council as Dupree Street; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the general welfare of the
citizens of Jacksonville, Arkansas, that the name of said
street name be changed to expedite utility service, postal
and other delivery, and traffic flow;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
THAT: SECTION 1. That the name of Dupree Street, situated
within Dupree's Second East Jacksonville Subdivision, be and
the same is changed to Smart Street from and after the
effective date of this Ordinance; and
SECTION 2. That the Master Street Plan, the Final Plat
of Dupree's Second East Jacksonville Subdivision, and all
other official maps of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas;
be and the same are hereby amended to show the name of Dupree
Street changed from and after the adoption of this ordinance
to be Smart Street; and
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk be and she is hereby
directed to furnish a copy of this Ordinance for recording
to the Circuit Clerk and Ex- Officio Recorder of Pulaski
County, Arkansas
