0734o7 r- h x RESOLUTION NO, 734 (#10- 2015) A RESOLUTION EXPRESSINGAPPRECIA TION FOR CANINE OFFICER TRIXIE UPON HER RETIREMENT; M SUPPORT OF TRANSFERRING 0WNERSHIPAND RESPONSIBILITY OF CA NINE OFFICER TRIXIE TO HER FORMER HANDLER, SGT, CHRIS SCHUL TZ; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES, WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has used canine officers for many years and have been fortunate to have both tremendous canine officers and officer handlers; WHEREAS, Canine Officer Trixie, who has served the Department valiantly for the past Six (6) plus years as a certified North American Police Dog, has participated in numerous law enforcement activities, conducting over One Thousand (1,000) sweeps, involved in almost Four Hundred (400) drug related arrests, and involved in numerous _sear_ches,_.drug__and_property, seizures, cash _seizures -in -excess -of Fifty Thousand Dollars__ ($50,000.00) in value, and weapon recoveries, just to mention some of her accomplishments; and, WHEREAS, due to a decline in health and her age, Canine Trixie is no longer able to complete all of the duties normally assigned to a Canine Officer. Trixie's brave service to the City warrants appropriate care for the remainder of her life, which will be provided by Sgt. Schultz and his family. Because State law, City policy, and Police Department policy allows for Canine Officers to be relinquished and transferred to their Officer Handlers, the City Council hereby agrees to do so. NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOL VED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OFIACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT.- SECTION ONE: In appreciation and support of the years of service and dedication to the Jacksonville Police Department, the City of Jacksonville expresses its gratitude and recognition of Canine Officer Trixie's retirement from service. In accordance with State law, City police, and Police Department policy, the City Council authorizes relinquishment of Canine Trixie to her former handler, Sgt. Chris Schultz, and thanks Sgt. Schultz for his years of dedication to Trixie and the City of Jacksonville. SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict.
