G(0 RESOLUTION NO. 282 -81 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, STATING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL ENCOURAGES THE PULASKI COUNTY QUORUM COURT TO SET A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE ONE PER- CENT SALES TAX. WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has a need for additional revenue to fund its General Fund Budget to continue basic munici- pal services at its present level; and WHEREAS, a one percent sales tax at the county level would generate in excess of 1.5 million dollars which would allow a reduction in service charges and fees of $10.00 per month per household and also provide the needed funds; and WHEREAS, Pulaski County also has a need for additional funds to continue providing good county services which directly affect the citizens of Jacksonville; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Jacksonville to encourage the Pulaski County Quorum Court to set a special election in September 1981 or October 1981 for the purpose of presenting a one percent sales tax option to the electorate of Pulaski County. AND, BE IT RESOLVED, that a copy of the Resolution be placed in the permanent records of the minutes of the City Council of Jacksonville, Arkansas. WITNESS our hands and seals this day of , 1981.
