ORDINANCE NO. 696 (117-83)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NO. 494
(WHICH CREA TED THE WA TER WORKS COMMISSION) TO INCREASE THE
NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS FROM THREE TO FIVE AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 494, Section 1, enacted as 2.33.010 of
the Municipal Code of Jacksonville, Arkansas, is hereby amended by adding
Section 1 (A) as follows:
Pursuant to Ark. Stat. Ann. 8 19-4220, the Jacksonville
Waterworks Commission shall hereinafter consist of five
citizens who are qualified electors of the City of
Jacksonville. The two new commissioners shall be appointed
by the Mayor and confirmed by two-thirds vote of the duly
elected members of the city council and shall hold office for
a term of eight years. Successors, due to resignation, removal
or expiration of a term, shall be selected as set out in
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 494, enacted as 2.33.010 of the
Municipal Code of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of any such conflict.
