RESOLUTION NO. 641 (#3 - 2010)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT AND WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE TO IMPROVE RECREATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND LEARNING
FACILITIES FOR THE CITIZENS OF JACKSONVILLE AND TO SEEK GRANT
FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR THEPARKSAND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO
DO SO; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, through its Parks and Recreation
Department, recognizes the need to provide improved public recreation educational and
learning facilities for its citizens and visitors;
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville wishes to apply for General Improvement
Funds available through the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for learning
facilities and educational programs that promote skill building, physical fitness,
character development, and life enhancing values for children through the game of golf
through the City's Parks and Recreation Department and understands that such funds
are available for such; and,
WHEREAS, any project utilizing said General Improvement Funds must be open
and available for use by the general public and maintained by Jacksonville Parks and
Recreation Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT,
SECTION ONE: The City of Jacksonville will participate in the Arkansas
Community Grants Program for sums appropriated to the Department of Parks and
Tourism from Arkansas General Improvement Funds in accordance with its designated
obligations and responsibilities, including ongoing maintenance of any such project.
SECTION TWO: The Mayor and City Clerk and /or their designated
representatives are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate
agreements and documents necessary to submit an application for grant funding to the
Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation
Department for learning facilities and educational programs that promote skill building,
physical fitness, character development, and life enhancing values for children through
the game of golf.

SECTION THREE: The City Council pledges its full support and hereby
authorizes the appropriate City of Jacksonville officials and /or employees to submit an
application for said grant funding to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
SECTION FOUR: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
