RESOLUTION NO. 640 ( #2 - 2010)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE SUPPORT AND WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE TO IMPROVE RECREATIONAL FACILITIES FOR THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE AND TO SEEK GRANT FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR THE
PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT TO DO SO; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, through its Parks and Recreation
Department, recognizes the need to provide quality public recreational facilities for its
citizens and visitors;
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville wishes to apply for General Improvement
Funds through the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism for maintenance and
operations, construction, and personal services for community recreational activities,
ball parks, sports complexes, and parks through the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation
Department; and,
WHEREAS, the City recognizes that any project utilizing state funding must be
open and available for use by the general public and are to be properly maintained by
the Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City of Jacksonville will participate in the Arkansas
Community Grants Program for sums appropriated through the Arkansas Department of
Parks and Tourism from the Legislature's General Improvement Funds (GIF) in
accordance with its designated obligations and responsibilities, including an ongoing
maintenance obligation for said project for a minimum of Fifteen (15) years.
SECTION TWO: The Mayor, City Clerk, or designated representative are
hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and documents
necessary to submit application for GIF grant funding to the Arkansas Department of
Parks and Tourism for maintenance and operations, construction, and personal services
for community recreation activities, ball parks, sports complexes, and parks.
SECTION THREE: The City Council pledges its full support and hereby
authorizes the appropriate City of Jacksonville officials and /or employees to submit an
application for grant funding to the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.

SECTION FOUR: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
