RESOLUTION NO. 621 (#14 - 2008)
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO NEGOTIATE
AND EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS IN EFFORTS TO SECURE AN
OPTION TO PURCHASE THE REAL ESTATE NOW KNOWN AS NORTH METRO
MEDICAL CENTER; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, though desirous of obtaining a long term
lease for the continued operation on our City -owned medical facility, North Metro Medical
Center, has learned that doing so is financially unfeasible in these economic times; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the satisfaction of providing quality community
medical needs and health care, even in this economic environment, is important enough to
warrant proper negotiations with a qualified medical provider that will assume the financial
liabilities of the hospital and obligate itself to continued management in providing quality health
care facilities in the community. As such, the Mayor and City Clerk should be authorized to
negotiate at favorable terms with a qualified medical care facilities management entity an Option
to Purchase such property(ies) so as to provide both liability protection and facility operations to
continue quality medical facilities in our City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT ;;
SECTION ONE: To assist in satisfying the medical care and needs of local citizens
and residents within the Jacksonville and North Pulaski County area, the Mayor and City Clerk
are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate at favorable terms with a qualified medical
facility operations group an Option to Purchase the relevant property(ies) and to execute all
appropriate agreements and documents necessary to obtain and secure, at appropriate
valuations and rates, for the continued operation and provision of quality medical services within
the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date
of passage. 11 N.
