0618 000011 RESOLUTION NO. 618 ( #11 - 08) A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, TO UTILIZE FEDERAL AID MONIES FOR THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAM; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, in its application for funding through the Arkansas Safe Routes to School Program to develop or improve the 2008 Safe Routes to School Program, understands that Federal Aid Funds are available for this project on a reimbursable basis, requiring work to be accomplished and proof of payment prior to actual monetary reimbursement; WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council understands that there will be no reimbursement for any work accomplished prior to the issuance by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department of an official Notice to Proceed, and; WHEREAS, this Project, using federal funding, will be open and available for use by the general public and maintained by the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE: The City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, will participate in the 2008 Safe Routes to School Program in accordance with its designated responsibility, including maintenance of this Project. SECTION TWO: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the construction of the above stated Project. SECTION THREE: The City Council pledges its full support and hereby authorizes the City of Jacksonville to cooperate with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department to initiate action to implement this Project. SECTION FOUR: Any other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date of passage.
