RESOLUTION NO. 611 (#4 - 2008)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING WILLINGNESS OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE
TO UTILIZE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION
DEPARTMENT SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAM FUNDS; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville wishes to apply to the Arkansas State Highway &
Transportation Department (AHTD) for its "Safe Routes to School" Program funds; and,
WHEREAS, It is necessary that certain conditions be met as part of the application
requirement, so the City must declare that this Project, using federal funds, will be open and
available for use by the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT'
SECTION ONE: The City of Jacksonville agrees to participate, in accordance
with its designated responsibility, including maintenance of this project, in its application and
solicitation of AHTD's Safe Routes to School Program funds.
SECTION TWO: Tommy Swaim, Mayor, and /or Susan Davitt, City Clerk, are
hereby authorized and directed to submit a grant application as an infrastructure project to the
AHTD on behalf of the City of Jacksonville for such funds. Mayor Swaim and Ms. Davitt are
authorized to execute all appropriate agreements and documents necessary to expedite the
application, construction, and completion of the above stated project, expending such grant funds
as designated for the project.
SECTION THREE: The City Council pledges its full support and hereby directs full
cooperation with AHTD to initiate action to implement this project in the City of Jacksonville.
SECTION FOUR: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from and after its date of
passage.
