RESOLUTION NO. 584 ( #5 - 05)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CENTRAL ARKANSAS
TEAM CARE FOR THE HOMELESS (CATCH) TEN YEAR PLAN TO END
CHRONIC HOMELESSNESS IN CENTRAL ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City recognizes the need to address root causes of
homelessness, as well as strengthening and expanding services to the homeless
of our area in hopes of providing greater public facilities and resources for those
citizens in need;
WHEREAS, the City understands that, to abolish the repeated cycle of
chronic homelessness, a coordinated plan and implementation of a long -term
intervention program is required to satisfy federal mandates and gain assistance
in the City's efforts to eliminate chronic homelessness; and,
WHEREAS, the City joins with other local communities in the development
and creation of the Central Arkansas Team Care for the Homeless (CATCH) in its
efforts to build a proactive collaboration of community leaders, service providers,
and resource partners to create a network of services to eliminate chronic
homelessness in Central Arkansas by 2015.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City Council of the City of Jacksonville,
Arkansas, hereby, expresses its support of the identified strategies and its
willingness to join in the collaborative effort to effectively address and eventually
resolve the problem of chronic homelessness in Central Arkansas through the
coalition of communities creating Central Arkansas Team Care for the Homeless
(CATCH). The Mayor and other City officials are hereby authorized to participate
and support the efforts of CATCH in reaching its goal of eliminating chronic
homelessness by 2015.
SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in
effect from and after its date of passage.
