RESOLUTION NO. 571 ( #2 - 03)
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE CREATION OF A
NEW SCHOOL DISTRICT WITHIN THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas values each child's right to a quality
education, and providing a school system that is attractive to prospective residents
is a vital concem for all members of our community, given the lack of local control of
our schools;
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council is dedicated to enhancing the
educational process and personal attention offered to students in Northeast Pulaski
County; and,
WHEREAS, the creation of a new school district for our community can be
achieved with minor disruption to students or teachers and at no additional state or
local costs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas,
expresses its support for the creation of a new school district and encourages
members of the community to sign circulating petitions and vote YES for our
children and YES for our community on Election Day, September 16, 2003.
SECTION TWO: Any and all other Resolutions in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of said conflict. This Resolution shall be in effect from
and after its date of passage.
