RESOLUTION NO. 550 ( #10 - 01)
A RESOLUTION SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF VACATING
AND CLOSING A PORTION OF HICKORY STREET, JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS
(GENERAL LOCATION: THAT PORTION OF HICKORY STREET FROM EAST MAIN STREET
TO THE REAR OF THE SUNNYSIDE HILLS ADDITION); AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES
WHEREAS, that portion of Hickory Street which runs from East Main Street to the rear of
Sunnyside Hills Addition has never been used by the public as a thru street and, in fact, has
buildings and improvements located upon said property; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council and Planning Commission wish to obtain public input as to the
possible closing of that portion of Hickory Street from Main Street to the rear of Sunnyside Hills
Addition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE,ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: A public hearing will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2001, at 7:00 p.m.,
or as soon thereafter as possible, to address the issue of closing and vacating that portion of
Hickory Street from East Main Street to the rear of the Sunnyside Hills Addition. Said public
hearing shall be held during the regular City Council Meeting in the Council Chambers of the
Jacksonville City Hall, #1 Municipal Drive, Jacksonville, Arkansas.
SECTION TWO: The real property involved is more particularly described as follows:
A piece of property bounded by the following legal description being located in the
City of Jacksonville, Pulaski County, Arkansas: Commencing at the Southwest
corner of Lot 7, Block 4, Galloway's Addition; thence Southeasterly along the South
line of Lots 7 and 6, Block 4, Galloway's Addition to the Westerly boundary line of
Lots 298 and 297, Block 0, Sunnyside Hills Subdivision; thence S 43° 23' 02" W
along said boundary line, to the Northeastern corner of Lot 1, Block 5, Galloway's
Addition; thence Northwesterly along the North lines of Lots 1 and 12, Block 5;
thence N 43° 23' 02" E along Elm Street right -of -way to the point of beginning.
(GENERAL LOCATION: That portion of Hickory Street from East Main Street to the
rear of the Sunnyside Hills Addition, Jacksonville, Arkansas.)
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said Public
Hearing in a newspaper having general circulation within the City of Jacksonville a minimum of two
(2) times. The first publication shall be no later than fifteen (15) days prior to said Public Hearing.
SECTION FOUR: All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of said conflict.
