0443 RESOLUTION N0. 443 (tt1 - -92) A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING AND /OR REVISING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE TO INSURE AGAINST DISCRIMINATION OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES IN ACCORD- ANCE WITH THE AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT; DESIGNATING AN ADA REPRESENTATIVE FOR THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES. WHEREAS, R E ilHucwAu, thi= A11i =_L'i.cai7fd with Disabilities Act (ADA) was si.gred into lesp by Prosididni, G ^oige CIS 1 -Th >n kilt 26, 1990, . - - .: .. - and L:V Vril':i the City �I Jacksonville; and, WHEREAS, this law prohibits discrimination against persons with disabilities and requires thet a qualified individual with a disability not be subjected to discrimi- nation in employment or access to public facilities, • services, programs, and activities; and, WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has reviewed and will • • continue to review personnel policies and procedures, appli- cation forms, hiring procedures, and job descriptions to • remove any possibility of any discrimination; and, WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has evaluated its facilities, services, programs, and activities and will, prior to June 30, 1992, complete projects and implement recommendations of the evaluation, will continue to review input from a citizens committee on an as- needed basis, and will implement necessary modifications that are reasonable, affordable, and do not cause an undue hardship; and, • • WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville has complied and continues to comply with the ADA, and invites public input to assist in this:. endeavor:; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE The Personnel Director, Michael Beeman, shall be designated as the ADA representative for the City of Jacksonville, except for the Jacksonville Wastewater Utility, which hereby designates Thee Hughes as their ADA representa- tive. These individuals will address any internal or external complaints or grievances and will provide proper notice of this complaint procedure to community members, will post such on official City bulletin board;, and will provide complaint/grievance forms at all pubilo access City facilities. SECTION TWO: Mr. Beeman and Ms. Hughes shall review, • investigate, and address complaints within their designated departments in a proper manner and will report ADA concerns to the City Council on a. regular basis.
