RESOLUTION NO. 4 2 7 (#10 -90)
A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE EMERGENCY 911 ADDRESS SYSTEM DEVELOPED
THROUGH A JOINT VENTURE OF THE COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL AGENCIES
WITHIN PULASKI COUNTY, ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, there is a valuable need for the emergency 911
address system throughout Pulaski County, Arkansas, and the City
of Jacksonville has participated both in funding and development
of said system; and,
WHEREAS, while the City supports the program, the program's
funding source, the Pulaski County Quorum Court, has publically
declared that said system would be completed and operational
throughout the County by August 1, 1990. In addition, it appears
the County will provide funding and support for the continuation
of said program through the funds received for its creation and
development; and,
WHEREAS, funding sources are not available within the City
budget to provide additional assistance and continual administra-
tion and development of this system; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, as are other municipali-
ties, are depending heavily upon the support of the Pulaski
County Quorum Court in the continued operation, development, and
perpetuation of the county -wide Emergency 911 Address System.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1. The City of Jacksonville appreciates and sup -
ports the Emergency 911 Address System and encourages the Pulaski
County Quorum Court to continue funding the development, opera-
tion, and perpetuation of said system. Because of the tremendous
role this emergency communication system plays in the timely
response to emergencies within Jacksonville and throughout
Pulaski County, the City Council respectfully request that the
Quorum Court provide whatever additional and continued support
necessary for the maintenance of this program.
Section 2. All Resolutions or parts of resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said
conflict.
Section 3. This Resolution shall be in effect from and
after its date of passage.
