AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NUMBER 727, FIXING AND IMPOSING
THE AGGREGATE AMOUNT OF FEES, CHARGES AND SPECIAL TAXES TO BE
PAID THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, BY THE GENERAL TELEPHONE
COMPANY OF THE SOUTHWEST AND THE METHOD OF PAYMENT THEREOF; DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. It is hereby declared that Ordinance Number 727
should be amended as set forth below.
SECTION 2. Section 6 of said Ordinance Number 727 is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"The sale, furnishing, transmission and distribution of the
telephone service by General Telephone Company within the City is
hereby declared to be a special privilege and for such privilege
General Telephone Company shall pay to the City an assessment
amounting to:
For the year 1985, the General Telephone COmpa!lY of
the Southwest shall pay in monthly installments be-
ginning January 1985, the sum of One Hundred Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($150,000.00).
The payments shall continue in succeeding years unless sooner
modified."
In all other respects, said ordinance shall remain unchanged.
SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. It is hereby found by the Jacksonville City Council
that there is an urgent need for additional revenues for the City.
Therefore, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance
being necessary for the preservation and advancement of the public
peace, health and safety shall be in full force and effect from and
after its passage.
