AN ORDINANCE WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING IN
REGARD TO CONTRACTING FOR THE PURCHASE OF PHONE EQUIPMENT FOR
CITY BUILDINGS, CITY OF JACKSONVILLE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1: Pursuant to Arkansas Statutes Annotated Sec-
tion 19-4425, we hereby waive the requirements of competitive
bidding in regard to the purchase of phone equipment for City
buildings, City of Jacksonville.
Section 2: We hereby state that the requirements of com-
petitive bidding in this instance would not be feasible or
practical in that the estimates received by the City indicate
that the City would be able to purchase the in-place phone
equipment from GTE for a substantial savings over purchasing
new equipment. That in addition thereto, the City needs to
purchase new equipment for the Police Department on a lease-
purchase agreement with GTE. Under these circumstances, it
is necessary to waive competitive bidding.
Section 3: We hereby authorize the City of Jacksonville
to contract with GTE for the purchase of City in-place phone
equipment in the sum of approximately $10,000.00 and for the
purchase of in-place phone equipment for the Police Depart-
ment on a lease-purchase agreement in the sum of approximately
$21,000.00 over an extended period of time.
Section 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of any such
conflict.
