ORDINANCE NO.
8 4 1 (#32-86)
AN ORDINANCE INCREASING THE RATES OF THE JACKSONVILLE FIRE
DEPARTMENT'S EMERGENCY SERVICES DIVISION; AMENDING ORDINANCE
NO. 588; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the Jacksonville Fire Department's Emergency
Service Division has provided superior emergency medical treatment
and care within the Jacksonville city limits and surrounding areas
for more than five (5) years; and,
WHEREAS, because of the loss of federal and state revenues,
the City of Jacksonville is no longer financially able to sub-
sidize the Emergency Services Division and must raise the basic
rates for such services to make this division more cost effective
and self supporting; and,
WHEREAS, a survey of other surrounding cities that provide
similar emergency services shows that an increase in the basic
rates as stated below will still provide quality emergency medical
services and remain less expensive than the surrounding areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1: Ordinance No. 588 shall be amended to include
the following rate changes:
A. Basic Rate - Two Hundred Ninety-eight and 00/100
Dollars ($298.00) for emergency services charged on a per run
basis for any services provided within the city limits of
Jacksonville.
B. Outside the City Limits - An additional Twenty-five
and 00/100 Dollars ($25.00) will be charged for any calls which
require the Emergency Services Division to go outside the city
limits of Jacksonville.
C. Mileage - Two and 50/100 Dollars ($2.50) per patient
mile for any distance driven outside the city limits to a medical
facility while a patient is on board.
D. Medications and Supplies - Additional charges will be
levied for the use of any medical equipment, supplies, medication,
etc., on a replacement cost per item, subject to the market
changes.
Section 2: Any charges or fees paid for the use of
emergency serVlces shall be paid to the Jacksonville Finance
Department, Emergency Services Division.
Section 3: Any ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of said
conflict.
Section 4: This Ordinance shall be in effect from and
after January 1, 1987.
