ORDINANCE NO.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ~2.28.010 and ~2.28.020 OF THE MUNICIPAL
CODE OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, a number of the medical staff of Rebsamen Regional
Medical Center live in areas other than Jacksonville, and
WHEREAS, the Chief of the medical staff serves on the
Hospital Board of Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Code of the City of Jacksonville,
Arkansas, does not reflect that anyone other than a qualified
elector of Jacksonville may serve.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
Section 1. Section 2.28.010 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, is amended to read as follows:
"There is created a commission to be known as the
Jacksonville Municipal Hospital Commission and to be com-
posed of six citizens who are qualified electors of the city
and the duly elected Chief of the medical staff of Rebsamen
Regional Medical Center."
Section 2. Section 2.28.020 of the Municipal Code of the
City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, is amended to read as follows:
"The six commissioners shall be appointed by the mayor
and confirmed by a majority vote of the duly elected and
qualified members of the City Council and shall hold office
for a term of five years; the Chief of the medical staff
shall serve for a term in accordance with the medical staff
year or term of office. In the event a vacancy occurs on the
commission, it shall be filled by appointment by the mayor
subject to the approval of a majority vote of the duly
elected and qualified members of the City Council. Each
commissioner shall file the oath required by law in the
State of Arkansas of public officials."
Section 3. Any ordinance in conflict herewith is specifi-
cally repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its passage.
