AN ORDINANCE WAIVING COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE PURCHASE OF
SMALL ANIMAL CAGES FOR THE ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Animal Control Department
of Jacksonville, Arkansas to purchase two (2) units of small ani-
mal cages in order to provide proper housing for smaller animals.
WHEREAS, the population of small animals handled by the
Animal Control Department will double in the spring and the addi-
tional cages will provide the proper housing for those animals.
WHEREAS, there are very few manufacturers nationwide, none
in Arkansas, who manufacture animal cages and a Suburban Surgical
Co., Inc. of Wheeling, Illinois has provided a lower quote than
the other manufacturers;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION 1: Competitive bidding for stainless steel small
animal cages for the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas would be
costly and nonproductive, making said competitive bidding not
feasible or practical.
SECTION 2: Competitive bidding is hereby waived pursuant
to Ark. Stat. Ann. S19-4425, for the purchase of small animal
cages for the Animal Control Department and authorization is
given for said purchase to be from Suburban Surgical Co., Inc. of
Wheeling, Illinois.
SECTION 3: Any ordinance in conflict herewith is specifi-
cally repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.
