ORDINANCE NO.8 87 (#17-88)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 838 CODIFIED AS JACKSONVILLE
MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 18.76; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: That Section 18.76.030 B(5) of the
Jacksonville Municipal Code shall be amended to read as follows:
(5) political Signs. No outdoor advertising device and/or
signs advertising the candidacy of any person, subject,
or thing will be constructed, erected, and/or affixed
more than sixty (60) days before the date of the election
and shall be dismantled and removed within ten (10) days
after the date of the election. All outdoor advertising
devices and/or signs advertising the candidacy of any
person, subject, or thing must comply with all provisions
of this Code, except as follows:
A) No political signs constructed, erected, or maintained
in areas zoned C-I, C-2, C-3, C-4, M-l, or M-2 shall
exceed a maximum of sixteen (16) square feet (except
billboards); the height of the sign shall not exceed a
maximum of twenty (20) feet; and, the front edge of
the sign shall not exceed beyond the property line
adjacent to the street right-of-way line.
B) political advertisements and signs displayed on bill-
boards shall not exceed the maximum square footage
set forth in this Ordinance for billboards.
C) political advertisements and signs displayed on
billboards are not subject to any specified time
restrictions.
SECTION TWO: It is hereby ascertained and declared that
an emergency exists and this Ordinance, being necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety,
shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
SECTION THREE: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in
conflict herewith are specifically repealed to the extent of such
conflict.
