LIMII:i OF THE CII r' OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; FOR THE PURPOSE OF LEVYING ONE MILL AND ONE MILL AGAINST ALL REAL PROPERTY WffHIN THE CORPORAII::. LIMII:i OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE; FOR THE PURPOSE OF EFFECTING CEf(IIFICATlON TO THE COUNTY CLERK OF PULASKI COUNTY OF THE TAX LEVIED AND OTHER PRESCRIBED MAIlERS PEf(IAINING THER/:::.IO; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES. ---------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------- WHEREAS, ORDINANCE No. I 72, DATED MAY 19, 1966, CALLED FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO DETERMINE THE QUESTION OF LEVYING A TAX OF ONE-HALF (1/2) MILL ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND FUNDING THE FIREMEN'S RELIEF AND PENSION FUND. AN ELECTION WAS SUBSEQUENTLY HELD, AT WHICH TIME THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE TAX TO BE COLLECTED WITH THOSE TAXES COLLECTED IN THE YEAR 1996. PURSUANT TO AN AMENDMENT TO THE ARKANSAS CONSTITUTION, THE TAXES WERE ROLLED BACK TO THE LEVY OF THREE-TENTHS (3/ I 0) MILL. HOWEVER, THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF 0ACKSONVILLE VOTED IN FAVOR OF AN INCREASE IN SAID MILLAGE RATE TO ONE ( I ) MILL DURING A 0UNE 8, 1995, SPECIAL ELECTION, CALLED BY ORDINANCE No. 104 I OF APRIL 6, 1995; AND, WHEREAS, ORDINANCE No. 173, DATED MAY 19, 1966, CALLED FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO DETERMINE THE QUESTION OF LEVYING A TAX OF ONE-HALF (1/2) MILL ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING AND FUNDING THE POLICEMEN'S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND. AN ELECTION WAS SUBSEQUENTLY HELD, AT WHICH TIME THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE TAX TO BE COLLECTED WITH THOSE TAXES COLLECTED IN THE YEAR 1996. NOW, THEREFORE, BE rr ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT: SECTION ONE: A TAX OF ONE ( I ) MILL ON EACH DOLLAR OF ASSESSED VALUATION OF ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY BE AND HEREBY IS LEVIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL TO BE COLLECTED WITH THOSE TAXES COLLECTED IN THE YEAR I 996 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE FIREMEN'S RELIEF AND PENSION FUND. SECTION TWO: A TAX OF ONE ( I ) MILL ON EACH DOLLAR OF ASSESSED VALUATION OF ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY BE AND HEREBY IS LEVIED BY THE CITY COUNCIL TO BE COLLECTED WITH THOSE TAXES COLLECTED IN THE YEAR I 996 FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING THE POLICEMEN'S RELIEF AND PENSION FUND.
