ORDINANCE NO. 1138 (#10 · 2000)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE ~ 18.76
(SIGNS); AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the Jacksonville City Council has reviewed the )rovisions of the current
Jacksonville Municipal Code regarding the use of yard signs by educational and religious
organizations throughout the City. In doing so, the Jacksonville City Council desires to modify
specific provisions of Jacksonville Municipal Code 9 18.76 to better satisfy the needs of the
community through additional regulation of the use of signs in the community for educational and
religious purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Jacksonville Municipal Code 9 18.76 is hereby modified and
amended to include the following additions, deletions, and modifications:
JMC 9 18.76.030 (Conformance) shall hereinafter include the following:
B. Specific. (11) School Special Event(s) - Permits may be obtained by local school
group(s) or organization(s) to place yard signs in residential zones and commercial zones under
the following conditions: a) An institution is advertising no more than two (2) special
event(s) per calendar year; b) Only one (1) sign is placed per lot; c) Sign(s) are placed no earlier
than three (3) weeks before the event and are removed from display no later than one (1) week
after the event; d) Display of said sign(s) is in compliance with all other applicable provisions
of JMC 9 18.76 et. seq.; and, e) No such signs shall be placed in public easement(s)/area(s)
or manufacturing zones.
SECTION TWO: All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or conflicts herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage and
publication, as provided by and subject to the requirements of applicable law.
