AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE JACKSONVILLE 1\IA TER COMMISSION TO
INCREASE CITY WA TER USAGE RA TES; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, purchases the majority of its water from the
City of North Little Rock Municipal Water Works, who obtains its water from the City of Little Rock
Municipal Water Works; and,
WHEREAS, because any increase in water rates by the City of Little Rock requires that the
City of Jacksonville increase the rates paid by its customers and projected capital improvement costs
for the Jacksonville Water Department requires an increase in revenue, the Jacksonville City Council
deems it appropriate to increase user water rates of customers of the Jacksonville Water Department.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: We, the City Council of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, specifically
recognize that the Jacksonville Water Department purchases the majority of its water from the City
of North Little Rock Municipal Water Works, who obtains its water from the City of Little Rock Municipal
Water Works. Any increase in rates by the Little Rock Municipal Water Works adversely affects the
ability of the Jacksonville Water Department to continue providing potable water service to its
customers at existing rates.
Accordingly, any increase in rates by the North Little Rock Water Works shall be automatically
passed to the customers of the Jacksonville Water Department. The increase will affect the monthly
minimum charge and the additional monthly charges as set forth herein in Section Two. The rates will
be adjusted by the percentage necessary to provide the additional revenue requirements of the
Jacksonville Water Department to meet any increase in rates from the North Little Rock Municipal
Water Works.
SECTON TWO: In addition, the City Council hereby authorizes the Jacksonville Water
Commission to increase the water rates to inc:ude the following rates:

SECTION THREE: JMC 913.16.010 will be amended so as to reflect the modifications
contained herein.
SECTION FOUR: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION FIVE: This Ordinance shall go into effect on and after May 1, 2000, subject to and
as provided by applicable law.
