ORDINANCE NO. 1186 (#16 · 02)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE NOS. 213 AND 238;
RENAMING A PORTION OF HOSPITAL CIRCLE TO VETERANS CIRCLE; FOR PROPERTY USE
PROVISIONS AND DESIGNATIONS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, development and construction of the Veterans' Memorial and the anticipated
development of the Air Park Museum brings about a change in the main thrust of business operation and
development for the area now known as Rospital Circle between the eastern and western lanes of Main
Street. To eliminate confusion, honor our veterans for their sacrifices and service, and aid visitors in finding
these tributes, the Jacksonville City Council deems it appropriate to rename a portion of Hospital Circle to
Veterans Circle.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVillE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: The following designation of Veterans Circle shall hereafter be utilized as
the official and proper name for the street commonly known as Hospital Circle located within the City of
Jacksonville (General Location: That portion of public street now known as Hos )ital Circle located between
the east and west bound lanes of Main Street). The Mayor and City Clerk are lereby directed to notify all
appropriate parties of said modification, and to insure inclusion of said modification on the next issue of any
City maps and/or telephone directories.
SECTION TWO: All Ordinances, parts of Ordinances, or previous actions taken by said
Council in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION THREE: It is hereb~ ascertained and declared that efficient statements and
designations of the streets and byways of the City are needed, and 1assage of this Ordinance will insure said
provisions. Therefore, this Ordinance, shall take effect and be in ,70rce from and after January 1, 2003.
