AN ORDINANCE RESCINDING JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE

WHEREAS t le Jac <sonvi Ie City Council, after reviewing a recent Arkansas
Attorney Genera('s opinion regarding ear y dead ines of independent municipal
candidate filing periods, wishes to avoid any confusion on the subject and believes
it appropriate to rescind the above referenced municipal code section.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CI I Y
COUNCIL OF THE CII Y OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Jacksonville Municipal Code 9 2.46.010 is hereby
rescinded in its entirety, with rescission to be effective immediately and upon
passage of this Ordinance.
SECTION I WO: All ordinances or Jarts of ordinances and
resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to '~he extent of said conflict.
SECTION THREE: It is hereby ascertained and declared that this
Ordinance is necessary to avoid confusion and conflict over independent filing
dead ines to allow for greater efficiency in governmental elections and services to
the public. Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared, and this Ordinance shall
take effect immediately upon passage and puBlication, as provided by and subject
to the requirements of applicable law.
