AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A REDISTRICTING PLAN FOR ELECTORAL WARDS
OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, after review of the population figures from the 2000 U. S. Census, it is in the best
interest of the citizens of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, that a redistricting plan for the Electoral
Wards of the City of Jacksonville be approved; and,
WHEREAS, a redistricting plan for Electoral Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 has been prepared,
recommended, and drawn for the City, and a copy is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS, THAT:
SECTION ONE: The City Council hereby approves the redistricting of Electoral Wards 1,
2, 3, 4, and 5 of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, as reflected on the Redistricting Map known as
Alternative Six, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof.
SECTION TWO: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall be in effect from and after its date of passage, as
provided by and under applicable law.
