AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AND MODIFYING JMC ~ 5.20 (TAXIS
AND VEHICLES FOR HIRE); AND, FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, it has been determined that additional Jrovisions are necessary to more
appropriately and effective y regu ate taxis and vehicles for hire wit lin the city limits of
the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE ell f
COUNCIL OF THE CII f OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: JMC 9 5.20.055 (Vehicle Requirements) is hereby created and
shall read as follows:
JMC 9 5.20.055 (Vehicle Requirements).
A. Inspections. All motorizec vehic es uti ized JY any taxi and/or ve lie e
for hire service operating wit lin the city limits of t le City of Jacksonvil e shall pass a
minimum of a Fourteen (14) Point Vehicle Inspection and satisfy all requirements of
applicable state and federal regulations.
Vehicle Inspection Points shall inc-ude, but not be imited to, the following:
1) Horn 8) Stop lamps/lenses (2) or (3)
2) Windshield wipers 9) License plate lamp (1)
3) Mirrors 10) Rear red ref ectors (2)
4) Tires 11) Turn Signal lamps/ enses (4)
5) Seat belts 12) Head lamps/lenses (2)
6) Beam indicator 13) Vehicle Identification Number
7) Tail lamps/lenses (2) 14) Gas Cap
B. Posted Fares. All authorized and current fares and charges assessed
to passengers in a taxi or vehicle for lire s la I Je posted on the inside of any sue 1
vehicle(s) c ear y visi J e from tle rear passenger area.
C. Name and Telephone Number Display. Each vehicle used by any business
and/or company operating as a taxi or vehicle for lire wit lin the City limits shall have the
name of the company and the telep'lone number cear'y posted on eaC'l side (driver1s side
and passenger side) of each such vehicle utilized by said business and/or company.
SECTION TWO: JMC 95.20.060 (Business Location and Operation) s la Je
amended to include the following:
c. Any vehicle for hire that is licensed and is operated exclusively as a non-
emergency medical transport service shall not be required to maintain a fixed terminal or
place of business within the city limits of the City of Jacksonville if:
1) Said servicelas a primary pace of 'Jusiness operation in anot'ler
municipality wit lin t le State of Ar<ansas;

2) Said service has a current privi ege/business license issued by another
municipa ity witlin the State of Ar<ansas and las provided the Jacksonville
Code Enforcement Office wit 1 a copy of said current license/receipt;
3) Said service satisfies all a J Jlicable state and federal regulations regarding
fees charged and lours of operation for said tranSJort services; and,
4) Said service satisfies a I other applicable provisions of this Code, Arkansas
law, and federal regulations in the operation of its service while transporting
residents of t'le City of Jacksonvi e.
SECTION THREE: All Ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby
re Jealed to the extent of said conflict.
SECTION FOUR: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage and
publication, as provided by and subject to the requirements of applicable law.
