0292 RESOLUTION NO. 292 - 82
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JACKSONVILLE,
ARKANSAS, STATING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL GOES ON RECORD SUPPORT-
ING THE PASSAGE OF THE PROPOSED 1 PERCENT COUNTY SALES TAX
WHEREAS, there is a great need for immediate improvement
of municipal serives and a stable source of revenue to finance
such vital local government services; and
WHEREAS, if the Pulaski County 1 percent sales tax passes
on February 2, 1982 and the City collects the proceeds from said
taxes, the governing body of the City of Jacksonville, Arkan-
sas, will reduce current fees and service charges by approx-
imately $900,000 annually, or the equivalent of approximately
$10.00 per month per household. Example of fees and service
charges are as follows:
ANNUALLY MONTHLY EACH HOUSEHOLD
AP &L ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT $200,000 = $2.00
SANITATION FEES 200,000 = 2.50
GTE ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT 155,000 = 1.75
SANITARY SEWER (INCREASE 1982) 155,000 = 1.50
WATER -SEWER ASSESSMENT 115,000 = 1.25
PRIVILEGE TAXES 45,000 = -0-
ARKLA GAS ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT 30,000 = 1.00
TOTALS $900,000 = $10.00
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of
Jacksonville goes on record supporting the passage of the
proposed 1 percent Pulaski County Sales Tax.
AND, BE IT RESOLVED, that a copy of the Resolution be
placed in the permanent records of the minutes of the City
Council of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and a copy of this Reso-
lution be forwarded to the Pulaski County Judge and the appro-
priate news agencies.
