1822ORDINANCE NO. 1822 (#17-2026)
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 8.06 OF THE JACKSONVILLE MUNICIPAL
CODE TO ESTABLISH DESIGNATED COMMERCIAL CORRIDORS FOR PURPOSES
OF THE VACANT BUILDINGS ORDINANCE; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that certain major transportation corridors
serve as the primary commercial gateways into and throughout the City of Jacksonville; and
WHEREAS, these corridors are essential to the City's economic development,
redevelopment efforts , property values, business recruitment, and community appearance; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that formally designating such commercial corridors
will promote consistent administration and enforcement of Chapter 8.06 of the Jacksonville
Municipal Code relating to vacant commercial structures;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE
CITY OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Section 8.06 .030(0) ofthe Jacksonville Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
G. Commercial Corridor. For purposes of this Chapter, the following streets and highways,
together with all commercially zoned properties fronting thereon, are hereby designated as
Commercial Corridors:
1. Main Street;
2. John Harden Drive;
3. T.P. White Drive;
4 . Highway 161 ;
5. North First Street; and
6. Marshall Road.
For purposes of this Section, a commercially zoned property shall be considered to front
upon a Commercial Corridor if it has direct frontage on, or primary vehicular access from,
one of the above-designated streets or highways.
The City Council may designate additional Commercial Corridors, or amend the
boundaries of existing Commercial Corridors, by ordinance.
SECTION TWO: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.

SECTION THREE: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage and publication ,
as provided by and subject to the requirements of applicable law.
