AN ORDINANCE TO FIX THE SALARY OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF
JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated § 14-43-409 authorizes the city council to
designate by ordinance the salary of municipal officers; and
WHEREAS, Arkansas Code Annotated § 14-42-113 provides that the salary of an elected
municipal official may be increased during the term of office; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it necessary and appropriate to establish the annual
salary of the Mayor of the City of Jacksonville in order to ensure fair and competitive
compensation commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the office;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF JACKSONVILLE, ARKANSAS:
SECTION ONE: Pursuant to Arkansas Code Annotated §§ 14-43-409 and 14-42-113,
the annual salary of the Mayor of the City of Jacksonville, Arkansas, is hereby fixed at One
Hundred Fifteen Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty Seven Dollars ($115, 987) per year.
SECTION TWO: The salary established herein shall be payable in equal installments
consistent with the City's regular payroll schedule and subject to all applicable withholdings and
deductions required by law.
SECTION THREE: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION FOUR: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.
SECTION FIVE: If any provision of this Ordinance is held invalid, such invalidity
shall not affect other provisions which can be given effect without the invalid provision.
